"I suggest waiting until it hardens." (The Saturday Evening Post, February 25, 1950)
Patience is a virtue, especially on a fresh sidewalk. In this George Smith gag from the February 25, 1950 Saturday Evening Post, a stubbled man in a long coat stands at a BUS STOP sign reading his paper, ankle-deep in wet cement, with a trail of footprints behind him, while two workmen with a wheelbarrow and shovel offer their advice.

AFTER-DINNER SPEAKER (The Saturday Evening Post, July 17, 1948)
George Smith tells this whole story without a single word. In four panels across the bottom of a page in the July 17, 1948 Saturday Evening Post, a banquet speaker rises and gets more and more worked up. The poor guest sitting beside him gets the worst of it. Anyone who has sat through a long dinner speech will understand.
