"I didn't know you could skate backward." (The Saturday Evening Post, November 5, 1949)

Some skating lessons are learned the cold way. In this George Smith gag from the November 5, 1949 Saturday Evening Post, a soaked skater with icicles hanging off his sweater and cap glides away from a fresh hole in the pond ice near a warning sign. A small kid in a pom-pom cap skates alongside him, impressed by the wrong thing.
